Thomas Paine was of course, a radical liberal. Because he had a brain. First, champion liberty and justice at home and defeat The Patriot Act. Then in Gitmo, Abu Ghraib and other places under our control, before we hypocritically force other smaller, weaker nations to commit to the principles we do not ourselves follow.
