JDN, Those people that drive those little box cars, think they are being "politically correct", and are saving the environment. They don't realize just how minimal their contribution really is. It takes fuel to generate electricity, so the more of it that is used, it counter acts any thing the car doesn't emit. Then they go home and fire up their charcoal grills, that put more pollution into the air, than any single car, or spend hours on their riding lawn mowers, sipping their ice tea, and further adding to the smog.

My bet is that they, or their parents, drove Yugos. I guess you know why there were heating elements in the back window of a Yugo. That was to keep your hands warm while you pushed it down the road.

The environment has adapted to all kinds of condition over thousands of years, and there is no reason it won't do it again.
