Do not Natural Laws imply Natural Obligations? "in a "state of nature", there is no society to protect our rights on our behalf." Since society is nothing more than a group of individuals, and all individuals are naturally obliged to respect the natural rights of others; I think I disagree with you that... "Society derives its right and obligation to protect the rights of its members only from their mutual consent and agreement." But I'm going to think about it some more.
