Dems Raise $22.6M So Far, Lag Behind GOP

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Democratic National Committee has raised $22.6 million this year through fundraisers, direct mail and online, but still trails the national GOP by a 2-1 margin, Democrats said Tuesday.

DNC Chairman Howard Dean has been traveling to fundraisers around the country in recent days -- including events in several cities in Texas to Atlanta to a Tuesday night event in Boston.

Despite these efforts, the DNC still trails the Republican National Committee, which reported last week that it raised almost $53 million through the first five months of the year. That compares with $22.6 million raised by the DNC over the same period.

The RNC reported it had $32.6 million on hand at the end of May. Democrats had $8.2 million.

Democrats are raising money ''from high-dollar and low-dollar donors, through the Internet and by direct mail,'' said DNC spokeswoman Laura Gross. ''We're still raising $1 million a week.''

Democrats raised an estimated $250,000 Monday night in Boston.

Dean told supporters in Boston he would continue to take a tough stand against Republican leaders. He has drawn criticism from some in the GOP and even some moderate Democrats over recent statements perceived as critical of Republicans in general.

He's the ONLY true leader Washington has had since Reagan retired. You cannot name another one, and your criticisms of Bush are truly bogus and transparent...

Never EVER doubt CYBERKEN on anything. He speaks for the FUTURE, and YOU are obsolete...

But don't worry. Since you were never of any value anyway, obsolete is no big loss...

And since the POS cried, the left wing media will demand he be forgiven.

We'll see if their oldest fraud still works...
