I know for a fact Dean was the one who got Kerry fighting.
I was there when Kerry said right in front of me. "We've got to start really fighting!" and shook his clenched fist. That was when Dean was getting support for being feisty as hell. So Kerry wanted a piece too. And beat Dean because he got feisty as well. Up until then he'd been playing it very safe.

Dean is an instigator and a blunt straight-shooter. Not politically correct but fiery. Dems may actually be well-served with him at the DNC. He's not boring. He also does make the others look moderate and controlled by comparison. Which helps. Hard to call Biden and Kerry types "liberal" when Dean is up there being THE liberal.

Of course Dean has to be more careful not to give the GOP any extra ammo. He could use a wordsmith's help.
