Because something has always been done doesn't mean that it is correct or moral or right to do it that way. The anti-vivisectionists have been fighting animal testing for a very long time. They are finally enlisting the support of the public in a larger way, especially in Europe. I think most medical treatments could have been developed without using animals, actually. But because we do use animals, we won't really know.
