The rightwing depends on smears, wedge issues, scare tactics, false promises and the myth that they are the ones who care about the heartland and average white Americans. In fact, their policies help only the very rich and big corporations, which usually take the middleclass jobs and ship them to China, and leave the people without health care. When I was recently in smalltown Illinios, I met some relatives of mind who were working past retirement, one of them sick without health insurance, struggling to make ends meet every week. Average Republican Americans who were getting zero help from their own leaders. The plant where the father had worked had shut down and moved overseas. Few jobs left in the community. Exactly as Kerry-Edwards said.
