Another useful link: Related party trade stats for 2004. Could it be that the trade deficit figures are not affected by the weak dollar because of related parties being involved?

To the extent that the deficit figures reflect increased economic activity between US-based related parties, could they reflect economic positives?

The big speculative grade spread contraction since the last rate hike, all right in the face of increasing evidence of a housing rollover, and even higher interest rates. Bizarre behavior, I think caused in part by carry trades using low interest currencies like the Yen and Euro.
