I am not sure what the relationship is between what Chinese groups of people eat and their public health habits. I have heard stories like that before--and others that are even worse--about the Chinese. But they are totally irrelevant to studying the diet of distinct groups of people to see the impact on health. I don't think I could even visit China because of the horrible way they treat animals. Even Chinatown in San Francisco proved a distinct challenge to my sensitivities, but then of course so do the live crab bins at the supermarket.
