The ramifications of both drugs are well known through countless studies and decades of medical research. I suppose we could both find a study on a particular aspect that supports our position.

Having said that, I'm not sure we're really debating anything here. We both agree generally on how each drug affects the body and I think we both know typical usage patterns. The issue for me is how we define dangerous. If dangerous means incidence of violent behavior or traffic accidents, one would need to look below the surface stats to ascertain the rate of incidence per time high in order to draw a conclusion. Hypothetically, if five drivers out of 1,000 drivers who drank alcohol last night had an accident, is that more or less 'dangerous' than the two drivers out of 50 who got high on pot who had accidents?

Also, statistics on accidents and violent behavior may not be granular or uniform enough to help draw conclusions. In my state, driving stats include those "under the influence". If you blow a high number on the breathalizer, most precincts won't bother with a drug test. And we all know that pot mixed with alcohol is common and more inebriating than either substance alone.

And finally, I'd much rather see people get mellow on a glass of pinot noir, than get wasted on pot and smell up my house -- even with the risk factors.
