I don't dispute that some people like the taste of meat, and some don't. But some people who do enjoy the taste of it do stop eating it because of their principles, or for moral and spiritual reasons, after they discover what factory farms do to animals, or they find out it causes increased rates of serious diseases, or for other reasons.

Mushrooms are washed before they are eaten. Decomposing vegetable matter is not dangerous from what I know about it. You can't really get the pesticides out of meat. But if you are comfortable eating animals that have eaten other dead, infected animals and animal feces and cows' blood, which carries the risk of spreading mad cow disease, we still have freedom of choice here, so go for it!
