Ray, The difference that you seem to fail to understand is that police and firemen are in the business of saving lives.

Our men and women in the armed forces are in the business of defending this nation.

But that's irrelevant. Whether it's saving lives or defending this nation, you seem to have no problem with other people doing those jobs. But as usual, for you it's "different."
