As someone who helped count the collections at Sunday Mass for a couple of years, I can assure you that finance ranks very high on the list of what religions are basically all about.

The most outrageously over-the-top example I'm personally aware of is the wild story of how the televangelist Pat Robertson used his faithfuls' cash and naivete to fund his own private diamond mine in the Congo:

Herr Jaeger, Religions are not about "truth" --even though most, if not all, pretend otherwise.... Religions are basically about managing people, providing human societies with feel-good stories and, last but not least, defusing man's fear of death.

Is that the real truth, or just another "truth" to toss into the pool?

Maybe the real myth is the one you just spouted off right now, designed to hide the fact that atheism is just as much about faith as any religion is.
