Whenever I raise the subject of US/Israel relationship I tend to be presented with a series of conclusions rather than facts.

People tell me that Israel is our friend and a valuable ally. Where are the facts to back that up? What exactly has Israel done to benefit the US?

I have met a total of one Israeli in my entire life, have never been there, and almost certainly will never go there, so the nation isn't off any great importance to me, no more than, say, Bulgaria.

Whether any nation in the middle east is civilized or not is of no possible concern to me. Why would I interest myself in the affairs of these nations? The only thing I want from them is gasoline.

"While Israeli discoveries are saving the lives of Americans, including American soldiers, Arab and moslem people are cutting off the heads of Americans and hijacking planes into our buildings. It puzzles me that you didn't know this."

What is the relevance of that? Because some muslims are murdering bastards I should care about the nations in the middle east? Some catholics are also murdering bastards but that doesn't mean I should interest myself in the affairs of Northern Ireland.

"Oh..... you think that because Israel doesn't have oil, we shouldn't support Israel? You think that we should be joined at the hip to the moslems and Arabs who frequently kill Americans?"

The lack of oil, while important, is not the only factor. I see no possible benefit that the US has enjoyed as a result of its relationship with Israel ... at least the Brits throw in with us when we are at war.

Re arabs and muslims frequently killing Americans, that is not true and nothing but propaganda. There are 1.2b muslims in the world, if they frequently killed Americans we would be dying by the millions.

Sorry but I a not drinking the Israel koolaid. It is an insignificant nation that has nothing to offer the citizens of the United States.
