Thanks, Ted. Actually I knew Kerry was exaggerating last year (my "lie" comment notwithstanding), but soundbites are usually one part truth to nine parts grandstanding. Hence the $200B figure this year sounds more like the truth than it did last year.

Kerry's figure was correct but it was based on Congressional appropriations made at the time he spoke, not actual dollars spent. And you can be assured that none of that appropriation went back into the Treasury. So Kerry wasn't exaggerating......just using one possible basis for a war spending number.
