The crucial point though is that I now see GLD (if not gold stocks because of their volatility) as something one can buy on dips and hold for a few years.

Lacy Hunt, chief economist of Hoisington Management, said fears of a trade war between China and the U.S. have added more uncertainty to a market already anxious about surging energy costs. "This whole idea of a trade war is very unsettling to investors, especially when you consider that many investors are global," he said.
