You two won't get along because you are sane.

geode00,

Re: I do not, however, believe it's a nationwide conspiracy involving tens of thousands of members of the media, corporate or otherwise.

And I never suggest that. Let me give you an example. Here in my home town there is a very right wing daily newspaper. Though officially called the Bulletin, most cognoscenti have nicknamed it the "Bullshitin'". I know one reporter there quite well. He's definitely a liberal and defininely in the know about a lot of shenanigans being pulled by the Establishment. So, he'd easily fall into the category of your "tens of thousands" of media workers. He's not the problem. The problem is that whenever Chris gets a juicy story that steps on the toes of the "powers that be", he gets censored by his editors and the publisher. So the truth never gets to the readers. Is this the reporter's fault? Of course, not. He can see the real picture, but he can't get the story into print.

No, geode00, the conspiracy doesn't have to include tens of thousands. As you are probably aware, about 90% of American media is concentrated in the hands of five corporations, all of them right wing. That's were the censorship and conspiracy exists, and it exists among a handful of like-minded individuals who don't actually need to conspire, per se, since they share a common worldview.

The ownership of our media is no secret, and it is pretty well understood:

The key to its right wing bias is that the editorial voice is controlled by a tiny handful of greedy sociopaths. Most of the rest of the media mid-management and werkinstiffs just simply have to go along to get along.

Re: At any rate, I'm never going to be left enough for your tastes

Actually, I admire some people who are pretty far right. So that isn't the issue. What I'm hoping is merely to make you more cynical about the media. Where we have a dispute is when you suggest that the media is stupid or ignorant as with the Downing Street Memos, and I clearly understand the media to be well-informed, malevolent and Machiavellian in what they will share with the general public, and what they cynically withhold (as with the juicy stories my friend Chris knows but can't report) from the public for the sake of Establishment control of the public's knowledge.
