Yeah, they aren't the cuddly, friendly creatures advertised. I saw a video of married couple messing with one on a snorkeling vacation, petting it, etc. It grabbed the womans leg and dragged her down about 50 ft. to the bottom and held her there for a minute or two. It let her go in time for her to survive, but it was close. They're also know to have destroyed several small boats (that we know of) at sea, apparently just for the hell of it. Sailors are warned to avoid pods at sea.
