bank of america is investing in china , all kinds of american companies investing in china. it doesn't make sense to stop china from buying unocal. imo. i do not see any threat and find it more protectionism.

I assume it would be ok if china buys a big operation in Iraq oil? Or picks up a group of oil companies working out of nigeria... What is the difference. oil is a commodity and trades on the world market. Unocal is a very small piece of the total oil business. since only chev and china are interested it appears there's not much interest in the oil company that put itself up for sale.
