"And perhaps contraception made available universally without prejudice ( and education) is the place where we can all start to agree as partial solution to a huge problem."

A start, but not a solution. The best check on out of control population growth is prosperity.

"So you went to Africa recently , and what do you see ?"

Wow! We saw a lot of people. It was a trip of a lifetime. We did some touristy things but the main reason for the visit was to see of daughter who was doing a practicum in Kenya for the last year. My wife works in a school here, and when the Principal heard about our trip they decided to ask the kids to bring in books and shoes and soccer balls for us to take. The school where my daughter worked only had nine books for the whole school. I think we ended up taking well over a hundred new books for the kids, all in all about 150lbs of stuff.

We also went to visit the family of a little girl that we sponsor through Compassion Int. It was very hard when we realized that they lived in a tin shack that was no bigger than a garden shed with no water or lights and yet they were people of great dignity who treated us as honored guests. You might expect that they would be miserable in such a situation but they seemed no different than the average family here. We brought about a months worth of groceries for them as well as school supplies and clothes for the kids and some tools for the father. I had bought him a set of screwdrivers from here to take but as soon as we got there I could see they would be useless so I went and bought him some heavy duty tools for digging which he was thrilled to get.

"And what resources they have , they will only get one real shot this time around at developing or sustaining."

The problems in the world do not stem from a lack of resources they are the result of corruption and greed. I'm going to have to continue this later the kiln just shut off and I'm bushed. Good night
