The function of the Supreme Court is often to PROTECT the American people FROM the majority of the moment. That's why they get life appointments, so they don't have to be concerned about the political winds. The SCOTUS is not supposed to serve the majority. That doesn't mean it's always right. Look at the most recent decision, and appointing the chimp.
