I bought my house in Gainesville in 96 for 64k, its 4 blocks from the Univ of Fla, it was a sh^t hole and I've probably put around 15k into fixing it up. 4/5 bed, 3 full baths, and its been completely paid for with market money and it worth close to 300k now. Not too bad! One thing I have yet to figure out about my area is the bubble's effect. Everyone wants to move to Fla so I think we may be somewhat insulated from a crash, and seeing how this is a small college town, there will always be a demand for housing. All I know is that if/when the prices come tumbling down I will be there to scoop em up.
