It was pretty well done as far as communicating the potential effects of an Oil Crisis upon the US Economy...it was broadcast maybe 2/3 weeks ago...watch it if you can. It should be shown in every School to every Student in America and should be part of an awareness campagin toward US Energy Independence. My take is that there is as yet - no "real" present Supply/Demand Imbalance indicative of present Oil, or Natural Gas Prices and much of the tightness in Refining is related to the Profit Motives of Corporations whose interest is obviously not in keeping gasoline prices low for Consumers, but rather in maximizing Corporate Profits. Peak Oil "should" be a gradual "evolution" and Market Transition with New & Alternative Energy Technologies displacing lost Crude Production as Prices gradually rise....versus a Crisis/Shock "Revolution" where Oil Prices must Spike and create resulting Economic, Financial Market & Geopolitical Crisis. What is Tragic for America... is that the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars that we are Spending in Iraq & in Afghanistan and on Defense & Homeland Security ... could have funded the infrastructure & power development needed to bring North American Oil & Tar Sands Projects to actual substantial production relatively soon, could have constructed innumerable high-tech Clean Coal Technology Plants & Added Refineries and LNG Ports & Facilities. We need an Administration whose Energy Policy benefits the American People & is headed toward Energy Efficiency, Conservation and above all - INDEPENDENCE ! Energy Policy should mandate higher Fuel Economy Standads, offer greater Tax Incentives for Hybrid Electric Auto's and for all Energy Saving Technology Investments for the Home, Workplace & Auto's...versus Tax Cuts for the ... and whose main interest is not in filling the pockets of the Saudi's, the Military/Industrial Defense Complex, Global Investment Bankers and Big Oil Cronies. It's no longer about being skeptical, or cynical about the pOILitic's of Bush/Cheney... it's about the complete control of the US Political & Election Process by the Monied Globalist Interests...and how Greed is willing to gut the US Manufacturing Base, to debase the Currency, to Transfer US Jobs en masse for a few extra pennies per share in earnings and to sell out the Working Poor and the Middle Class via laying Massive Deficits, Insolvent Pension & Social Security Systems upon their shoulders while the Greedy Global Elitists suck the Economic Lifeblood out of America...and give themselves Tax Cuts on Capital Gains & work to Eliminate the Inheritance Tax etc... Only time will tell how this all plays out... and as I've said many times before - those hoping for a Peak Oil Crisis should be carefull what they wish for... it won't occur within a Geopolitical, Market, or Cultural Vacuum. ...will Peak Oil Bulls truly end up either happy, or profitable; if we collapse the US Economy, end up sending our Children to War with China over Oil, see a collapse of our Financial & Banking System, an implosion of Housing & Asset Values, the Collapse of our Pension & Social Security systems and lose many of our basic Freedoms - all in the name of Homeland Security & Peak Oil ? If there exists - a single Democratic Political Strategist with a double digit IQ in all of America... there is no way the 2008 Presidential Election can be lost by Democrats...no possible way. Big Oil, the Saudi's, the Carlyle Group & the Globalist Industrial Defense Complex vs. YOUR Social Security Retirement, YOUR Pension Plan, YOUR Jobs, $3 Gasoline, Ramping Ultility Bills, A debased US Dollar, Ramping out of Control Deficits, Ramping Inflation, No Jobs, No Wage Growth, a Mountain of Debt...and most of all - the War in Iraq ... where there is NEVER going to be an "Exit Strategy" - not with the Construction of Multiple Permanent Bases meant to assure the Halliburton's & DynCorp's of the Oil & Defense Industries, Billions in Contracts for decades yet to come ... Here is the Travesty: ================================================================================= Bush to Seek $80B for Iraq, Afghan Wars By Alan Fram The Associated Press Monday 24 January 2005 Washington - The Bush administration plans to announce Tuesday it will request about $80 billion more for this year's costs of fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, congressional aides said Monday. The request would push the total provided so far for those wars and for U.S. efforts against terrorism elsewhere in the world to more than $280 billion since the first money was provided shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, airliner attacks on New York's World Trade Center and the Pentagon. That would be nearly half the $613 billion the United States spent for World War I or the $623 billion it expended for the Vietnam War, when the costs of those conflicts are translated into 2005 dollars. ============================================================================= $280 Billion already spent and no end in sight. We could have taken $61 Billion and immediately funded and escalated the next decade of Cap Ex Spending needed for the Canadian Oil/Tar Sands: ============================================================================= Survey Estimates C$61b To Be Spent on Canadian Oilsands Projects By Steve Erwin 16 Jun 2005 at 01:47 PM TORONTO (CP) -- Canadian energy companies will commit C$61 billion to develop oilsands projects over the next decade as high oil prices propel a variety of projects, according to an industry survey. Crude oil prices near record highs make it economically feasible to proceed with more projects, PricewaterhouseCoopers said in the report released Thursday. ============================================================================ How many Clean Coal Fired Plants, how many LNG Facilities, Refineries, or Tax Credits for the Development of these facilities could we have funded...that would actually lead America towards Energy Independence versus the Iraq War that has doubled Oil Prices and done NOTHING to lead America toward Energy Independance ? Americans are standing idly by...addicted by the opiate of Cheap Credit and a Housing Bubble...whilst the Globalist Investment Bankers, the Industrial/Defense Complex and the Bush/Cheney Oil Cronies enrich themselves.... Like all addicts...someday America will bottom & wake up. Hopefully it won't take a scenario like FX's TV Movie "OIL STORM"...
