Israel axe veteran tv anchor

05:24:02 È.Ù
Tehran, June 26 - Israel sack foremost tv anchor after the veteran braved to make an anti-Israeli documentary, SkyNews network said on Sunday.
Israeli anchor Haim Yavin faces expulsion after he had aired a film depicting Israeli army's atrocities in the occupied lands.
Yavin has been working in the Israeli night tv program since 1968.
His work has outraged Israeli officials, the network said. Yavin has never criticized Israeli policies in public, but in his film which has raised tensions in Israel, he referred to the Zionist regime as "murdurer, and pittiless".
Yavin has filmed scenes from the Israeli atrocities over the past two years by means of an amateur camera.
In his film, the veteran anchor has aired footages of the real life of Palestinian people.
"It is true that the jews has been living in the Middle East for years, but it will not justify the cruelties that they commit against Palestinians", the tv network said Yavin was quoted in his footage.
Yavin's film also reflects remarks made by some Israeli hardliners, calling for demolition of the Palestinians and bombardment of their residences.

Russia probing whether Jewish law constitutes incitement

By Amiram Barkat (Haaretz Israel)

Tel Aviv, Israel

Russia's state prosecutor has ordered an examination of Shulhan Arukh - a code of Jewish halakhic law compiled in the 16th century - to ascertain whether it constitutes racist incitement and anti-Russian material.

The prosecutor ordered the probe against a Jewish umbrella organization in Russia for distributing a Russian translation of an abbreviation of Shulhan Arukh.

Last Thursday, attorneys from the Russian State Prosecutor's Office questioned Rabbi Zinovy Kogan, chairman of the Congress of Jewish Organizations - one of the two large Jewish umbrella organizations in Russia. Kogan was asked to explain the contents of Shulhan Arukh, especially regarding its treatment of non-Jews.

Israel braces itself --and the US-- for WWIII:

Ayalon: Iran's nuclear plan under new leader must be stopped
By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON
- Ambassador Daniel Ayalon said Iran must be stopped from developing nuclear weapons and that task should be assigned to the UN Security Council.

"The clock is ticking," Ayalon said Monday, "and time is not on our side."

President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed on Sunday to pursue a peaceful nuclear program - an effort the United States maintains is really a cover for trying to build atomic bombs - and said his government would not be an extremist one.

Speaking to The Israeli Project, a private group committed to Israel's security, Ayalon said he did not see much of a difference between Ahmadinejad and other Iranian candidates.

They all support terror and advocate a nuclear weapons program, he said. But, the ambassador said, Ahmadinejad was "an extreme candidate" with a higher degree of extremism than his rivals.

"Iran must be stopped," Ayalon said.

Ayalon also questioned whether the election was a free one. On Sunday, Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said Israel also believes the election was undemocratic.

The Bush administration for months has warned it might ask the UN Security Council to impose economic and political sanctions on Iran to halt its nuclear weapons program.

But, at the same time, the administration has backed the European Union in seeking a negotiated settlement with Tehran.
