I'm not confused at all. It makes no difference what legal form one chooses for owning his or her property - it is still private property. You may be more comfortable with government taking away property of some impersonal corporation (if, in fact, Mt. Vernon-Woodbury Cotton Duck Company was a corporation) than if the same property was taken from an individual owner, but your comfort or discomfort is not a legal basis for distinction.
