Mayweather was at the peak of perfection tonight as Ali was in the Cleveland Williams fight, as Tyson was against Michael Spinks. Mayweather is great plain and simple.

Hatton has some decisions to make. He should definitely fight Cotto before Cotto ripens further and then take on PBF. I think Hatton stops Cotto by knockout. Mayweather, however, beats both Cotto and Hatton.

I'd like to see Mayweather fight Corales again at 140 in what would be a great fight. Otherwise, I think Mayweather should set his sights on 147 as fights with Judah and Margarito are very appealing.

More boxing commissions are allowing fighters to pick the brand of gloves which are most comfortable to them and I think that's a very good idea. This should greatly help fighters with bad hands.

Mayweather knew before the fight the great distance in talent between the two fighters and was telling anybody who would listen. I'm glad he praised Gatti after the fight. I actually thought Gatti landed a few good jabs in the 3rd and 4th rounds much to Mayweather's surprise. Gatti can give it a one more try at 147 however he needs to be matched very carefully. If Gatti stays away from the top boxers like Judah and Margarito, he can make a bit more coin in the game.

Vivan Harris looked terrible in getting knocked out by Carlos Maussa last night. Maussa is horrible. All he has is toughness and the ability to apply pressure. Any of the top guys should be able to beat him. He's also a very dirty fighter.

The next big fight is Hopkins-Taylor and I can't wait for that one. The more I think about that fight, the easier I picture Hopkins winning. I see the bandwagon growing for Taylor and I think DiBella and Taylor are going to be in for a rude awakening.

Happy 4th to one and all. Samuel Peter looked good in knocking out nothing much Taurus Sykes on Saturday. I didn't learn anything more about Peter after this fight that I didn't already know. Peter has a lot of Ike "The President" Ibeabuchi in him but his handlers are moving him much more carefully and slowly. Ike had already beaten two excellent fighters by his 20th fight (Tua and Byrd) while Peter hasn't fought anyone near the top 20. Can you believe it's been six years since Ibeabuchi's last fight where he KO'd Chris Byrd in 5 round no less? They are keeping Peter busy which is good but it's now time to step up in class. Guys like Maskaev, Briggs, Guinn (sadly this is what Guinn has fallen to) and Jirov should be the next step. These fighters will ask questions of Peter that need to be answered.

I'm already excited about Hopkins-Taylor on July 16. I'm very interested in your thoughts on the fight, e, as well as others on the board.

Bernard Hopkin's trainer Bouie Fisher on Saturday's fight....

"I'm going to predict that we're gonna win. We're going to take the young fighter to school and teach him. Let him know what he's able to do afterwards, but not what he's going to do today."
