Interesting.

I have a love-hate relationship with LBJ. I did a quick look at my library shelves and noticed more LBJ books than I thought I purchased. I believe the latest one is by Michael R. Beschloss entitled Taking Charge: The Johnson White House Tapes, 1963 - 1964

It, like all the others, is an interesting book.

If you can ever get to the conference room level of the National Press Club in D. C.--that is the one that is shown on TV events--you will find several photos of LBJ. There is a sequence of photos of him and a smallish Senator. I really like this sequence of photos.

In the first photo, LBJ is standing talking with the Senator. In the second photo, LBJ begins to lean towards the Senator while holding him in place with one of his big paws. In this same second photo, the Senator is now partially supported by a chair. By the last photo of the sequence, LBJ is clearly leaning at a 45 degree or more angle towards the Senator and in his face. Now, the Senator is also at a 45 degree or better angle leaning backwards over the chair trying to get some breathing room which simply isn't availalble.

By the way, have you ever read Nixon's book Six Crises?
