Eva, I'd look under 'my network places' in Win XP and click help for network problems. It will ask you questions.

Also to follow up on G's suggestion...I'd check your router's setup manual and get the IP address to get to the router's configuration page...look for something like this: 192.168.1.1..type that into your address bar and hit enter.

If that does take you to the router's configuration page..check to see if wireless is enabled.

OT-SI's a little buggy lately.

Thanks for your input but I am wireless now and I think my problem was the microsoft firewall. I didn't even know it was active and thought it only came with SP2 which I won't download. Somehow it was there and active and when I turned it off and rebooted my modem, router and computer all was well
