I didn't say conservatives didn't care about the troops, Ionesco. I am sure many of them do. I said that the Republicans in power didn't, and by that I meant the Bush administration. Members of Congress are all over the map over this issue--it is hard to characterize them by their party affiliation.

ANY criticism of the bozos in charge is a divisive issue, although the American public is coming around to not supporting the war in Iraq--only 39% of them do, a distinct minority now. The mess we have made over there is so huge it is really difficult to determine what to do next. Leaving now will reinforce what all the terrorists already believe about Americans. It is too bad the administration was too arrogant and ignorant to develop any understanding of the pitfalls of taking down an existing government in an area of the world they did not understand politically.
