Probably representative of cherry wood prices, retail.
willardbrothers.net
I tried to find an article in Mother Earth News, which, from now on,I will call TMEN, which talked about growing lumber for profit. Didn't see it, but I think they said to cut off the lower branches early to get nice straight grained wood.

Walnut's another one; there have been cases of walnut rustling, because the wood had become so expensive; dashboards for Mercedes,I think. And gunstocks.

A letter from Sioux, smuggled out of prison...

Please post this as my reply to one of your cherry posts....
Cherries may even be a microcosm of our lives. Cherries are quite tasty when
we bite into them. They nourish us. The thing is that cherries have a pit, a
seed that is even stronger than our enameled teeth. That pit can break us if we
ain’t careful.
(off to you elpolvo and crock.)

You want strength, light weight, flexible and resistant … getcher self some spider silk. Five times as strong as steel and flexible, giving it the ability to absorb force, resist breaks and tears, and it is water proof.
