Because part of the wealth of USA comes from the bargaining power earned by its strong military. It benefits all americans including illegal ones. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue.

I taped Frontline's report on mercenaries. The point about mercenaries was bad enough (as was the video of what it felt like to drive through battlezone Baghdad) but the really astonishing part was Camp Anaconda, an American city of 36,000 people!

OMG.

That's not a camp with tents, that's a city with solid buildings that provides very nice services including fully staffed kitchens, rec areas, a/c, etc. We're in the for the very long haul.

If I were an Iraqi, of any persuasion, and I saw that really nice city full of occupiers, of any persuasion, I'd wonder what the heck is going on with my country.
