The Iraqis being blown up by suicide bombers (other than "collateral damage" and accidents) are viewed as American collaborators. They are not being blown up for being Shiites.

Just went back to look at the occupation of Lebanon by the Syrians. The Sunni occupation of Shiites in Lebanon denied the Shiites all of their rights. In fact, Syrian treatment of their Shiite minority in their own country denied the Shiites access to education and employement too.

No wonder why someone like Cheney can be bold enough to appreciate the real progress in the ME. The only thing that bothers me is that the US keeps jawboning the conservative Shiites in Iran. We have to move past this nuclear impasse and make sure that they are not left outside of our Shiite allies.
