In England they called that "The Dad's Army." Brit TV had a great comedy series by that name in the 1970s, about a bunch of old timers who were home guards. Their job was to protect England while the youngsters were off in foreign climes doing the same. Another one I liked was about The French Resistance and it was called "Allo, Allo." WWII was much more of a theme in England than in the US, though we've had our "Hogan's Heroes", "Combat", and, who can forget, "Blue Light" with Robert Goulet.

Personally I don't think anyone should go ... and we should support our troops by bringing them home.

But if someone has to go, it should be Yellow Elephants. Maybe he has some grandchildren.
