As a practical matter, how much oil can actually be mined from oil shale on a yearly basis in the US.

Same question for coal tar sands in Canada

They did that a lot of that last year until mid-December. Then there was a pause until early May. They slowed down coupon passes in June, compared to May, but the pace of long-term lending is very high. The chart here correlates very well with the stock market moves.
