Frank - Some things never change! A half century ago I was a smart-alec in class and always got my comeupance from the professor. Just goes to show that some of us never learn.

After I posted that message I thought it was not a good example for the very reason you cited, i.e. weather is not binary. However, the concept of gamblers ruin has served me well over the years by reminding me that just because something has happened a lot in one direction does not necessarily mean the opposite will happen. I have a tendency to think when a stock has gone down (or up) for a long time that it is "due" to go the other way. I have to remind myself that I need to see some better reason for a change than simply that it is "overdue".

Mr. Market sure thought it was time for the gassers to change directions today! Oh well, they are "due" to go up tomorrow!

Best to all,
