I suppose, although their other workstations are also nice, and the v40z server has great performance, so who cares if it's based on Newisys? That said, I'm eager to see the Galaxy stuff. Dacaw @ iHub says the Galaxy servers are already in production use, but only in Sun's utility service, where they manage them and rent the time out.

RE: [why does it take Kealia 2 years to come up with a design]

Because Scotty boy still doesn't have a clue about markets and timeliness. If Mikey Dell needs a 4x4 then Scott requires a 6x6 across the head.

The truth will probably come out that Kealia has been tasked with applying their technical improvements to the entire SPARC line. This is probably pretty smart if you have time, but SUN is a few years behind in x86 servers by most folks' observations and probably dead meat if the Galaxy systems aren't seen as worth the wait.

I_banker,

why does it take Kealia 2 years to come up with a design. In the meantime, IBM and HP have created home grown designs.

My understanding is that the first IBM 1U was design my MSI, HP DL145 G1 was also from someone (Celestica). DL585, DL385 all the blades, workstation and 145 G2 may all be home grown design. I don't know about IBMS second generation 326. Blade is probably a homegrown design.

Compared to that, Sun has not really brought much of their own to the market, well, not much more than IBM.
