I just finished a round trip from NYS to Chicago and back in a 2003 Camry. Driving with a 'light foot' <ggg> I got around 37 mpg, making it almost to Toledo, Ohio from the suburbs of NYC on one tank of gas. The hybrid Camry is coming and should do better. We would really be much better off if there was simply a use tax on large SUV's. Those are sucking up much more gas than the hybrids will ever save in the short run. Of course that might put the final nail in GM's coffin, since they have publicly stated that they have put their 'new vehicle' resources into revamping their large SUV line.

Best regards,
John

Mindmeld, On June 9, I received my 2005 Limited Avalon. i left for Durango, CO on June 16 for a 3,000 round trip. The range of Gas mileage was from 22 mpg on the mountains with a high of 34.6 mpg on the straight away. I averaged between 26-27 mph for mountaiin and freeway driving at 75-79 mph. The avalon has five forward gears plus overdrive. The Lexus I believe has 6 forward gears I understand. With the quality of the Avalon no wonder that Toyato is eating Ford and GM's lunch.

just go to the edmunds.com 2005 avalon forum site and read what is being said about the avalon.

I see, the hybrid car and Toyota discussions have now been moved from AMD (used to be, unmoderated) to the Cisco board. I kind of missed them over there so I took a look around...
