The biggest advantage to a hybrid is city type driving because the engine is seldom on...highway driving can be the same as a good gas only, at a much lower initial cost for the gas only...

Payback really depends on your use.

Yep, it's the four cylinder. I don't know if you will get 50 with the hybrid version. I recall reading some road tests that said certain hybrids actually get better mileage in town because of the way they are configured, the Honda Insight comes to mind. Guess we will have to wait and see.
