I think you misread my post. My point was that even if a settlement is atrocious, it will still eliminate many abuses that Intel uses to maintain market share.

No, cause there has been no monopoly lawsuit against Intel until *now*. But I was talking about the price of MS Windows. I believe IBM pays the same price for it as, say, Emachines, even though Emachines doesn't sell any Linux and IBM does.

Before the MSFT settlement, this was not the case. IBM had to pay more for Windows until they dropped OS/2.
