rkral, It's similar to all the complaints voiced on this board when the majority of posts pertained to CSCO options... that went on ad nauseam for quite awhile.
I guess my point is that you can't please everyone and IMO it's really up to the thread originator to steer the thread in the direction he or she sees appropriate.

Sure. But if we limited our discussion on the Cisco thread to only directly relevant Cisco information, then the Cisco board would die. ;)

On a more serious note, to me threads are communities of people. Certain threads like this one have attracted people who then engaged in a lot of great discussions, most about Cisco, some not.

This thread then became more than a Cisco thread. It became a community. I still mostly post on this thread, because I know who the thread lurkers are and I generally like to get their thoughts on my posts. I have oftentimes posted to other threads and been bombarded by people who I didn't know nor respected. In short, I keep coming back to this thread because of the people I know on it.

So some may take a myopic view of what discussion boards are all about. I prefer to take a larger view. Now if some of the more frequent posters here told me that my posts are not adding value, then I'd consider changing or not posting.

But when Curtis tells me that, I have to take it with a grain of salt. I think the last time he might have posted was years ago. So what makes him the arbiter of this thread? Nothing does. What's more, if he had asked nicely, I might have changed just to honor his request. But the manner in which he made his request made me more determined to do the exact opposite of what he wants. There you have it. :)
