In that though, Iraq had already been shoved back a few generations simply through on going sanctions. Were they frightened that sanctions were going to be lifted and Iraq would do...what?

The Neocons wanted to topple Saddam for over a decade at least so I don't buy the sanctions argument. What in the world did they imagine would be the result of a democratic Iraq? What did they imagine it would look like?

If every country from Jordan to Saudi Arabia had legitimate elections, did they think the populace would vote to be nice to Israel? It just doesn't make any sense, they couldn't be that optimistic.

So the real end game is to put American military governors into a country like Iraq (that was one of the plans floated early on, I don't know what happened to it) to control it, take its oil and then see what happens?
