I think that Iraq will turn into a permanent, bloody stalemate. There will be a representative government but not one you would call a Democracy. The government and people will be subject to periodic, guerilla like attacks for many years. The US will have a sizable force there for many years. Meanwhile, the violence will spread to other countries.

"just as they did in NAM"

What harm did our leaving that misguided war do the Unitied States? It saved a LOT of American lives, at the cost of the pride of the bullheaded, like you.

When the people have forced the government to abandon THIS misguided, elective war, it will be GOOD for America too.
At this point, it's just a matter of how much blood and treasure we want to waste. Young Republicans don't seem to be lining up at the recruiting offices! They're no dummies. This war is a no-win loser with no upside.
