No they are not. If it remained strictly partisan, no change will happen in the next few years, Bush will stay the course. It's collapse of Republican support which will force the issue. But I'm sure you understand that anyway.

There's no sign of a collapse of Republican support, the defeatist chorus from the other side of the aisle just got louder. And that was before the speech.

Both WWI & WWII were far more of a threat to the US & Western democracy then Saddam ever was.

In what sense was WWI a threat to the US or Western democracy? If you want to climb down from that statement, I am willing to let it go, just didn't feel like letting it pass unchallenged.
