Polls showing the fraction that think Iraq was a mistake are shifting significantly. I suspect they will continue in that direction. BTW, I agree that we are responsible for trying to establish law and order, and I don't think we should cut and run. This is why I wish we would alter our behaviour to better achieve those goals. I see some signs that this might happen.

Concentrating on killing more and more young Arab men is not a long term solution. This seems to dawn very slowly on many people. Consequently I expect 5 or 6 more months of 50+ dead Americans/month, at which point things will change. I don't think it will take much more than that. And yes, those cumulative numbers are low by past wars, which perhaps just reflects the fact that modern western societies value life rather more than they use too.
