You can walk along the top of the wall. The Romantic Road looks to be a great tour, albeit mostly Bavaria. One caveat, many Germans don't consider Bavaria to be German, and many Bavarians hold a similar opinion. I can recommend a great Gaust Haus to stay at... community.webshots.com
