Frankfurt is ok. But it is like Hamburg, very international and not particularly identifiably German. Lots of doener kabob stands though. In some respects Germany is a lot like Texas, mainly rural with lots of small towns. There are a few big cities, but they don't really give the flavor of the place.

Nothing beats zipping through the country side at 100 kph in a car that if it was any smaller would have to be laced on, traveling roads about the width of a driveway. Passing fields of wheat, rape and sugar beets along with lots of woolies. Seeing the ubiquitous red brick houses with peaked roofs and often spectacular flower gardens. And topless women sun bathing where ever there is water...
