Actually, the terms mother and father will soon have to be abandoned as sexist. We are already losing the clarity of mother with surrogate mothers, birth mothers, step-mothers, etc. If we want to kee naming parents in any form, we're going to have to split into two kinds, biological parents and psychological parents. The biological parents will be the egg provider, the sperm provider, the womb provider, and, when in five years or so we get into gene splicing in the egg to remove undesirable genetic traits like Down's syndrome and maybe put in desirable genetic traits like intelligence, musical talent, blue eyes, or whatever, we'll have to add gene providers. It's a brave new world, Bill, and fossils like you are just going to have to get used to it.
