My Dad was a hell of a guy. Thanks for that compliment. I've been up at our lake place cleaning out some old junk, and after ten years I can still see his hand. Some times I think he is looking over my shoulder to make sure I don't throw out anything that he wanted.

All except that old yellow push reel lawnmower. He made me mow the grass when I was a kid and I HATE that thing! It's going to the dump. Dad or no Dad.

I went to the Marine Corps Ball last November, ostensibly to celebrate my mother's being asked to marry my Dad at the same event 63 years ago. My brother asked his sweetie to marry him (the real reason for everyone being there). Half those old Marines cheered him on and the other half grumped because they couldn't upstage him.

I never made it into the Marines, owing to having fired my .44 magnum too many times without hearing protection. I've always wondered what I missed.

I'd give a stiff drink all around to see that bunch of Marines march off into the drink. All in a day's work for them, huh!
