Jeez, now the state has to spend millions to keep the geezer alive for 60 years.
I REALLY don't think he'll make it 60 years. He's already 80. I can see it now:

Shudda parked his wheelchair on his air hose when they arrested him and been done with it.
That's sort of RDW's point, and I partly agree with it. It must have cost millions to gather the evidence, then try this old fart. Considering he will likely die in a few years anyway, it does seem somewhat of a waste. But I also have to agree with Smithee that there's a public policy matter involved here. After you've committed a murder, you should never be allowed to rest easy, knowing the statute has expired. You should always have to worry about that knock at the door when they come to arrest you.
