I've seen some earlier stories that SA may be at a peak as well. Mostly based on the amount of water that SA is pumping to get oil out. Hey, what's the worse that can happen? Higher gas prices; maybe we'll use our abundant coal and bring back the steam powered automobiles. Dig out the plans for the Stanley steamer.

I also read that there are thousands of diesel cars in the US that have been outfitted to run on vegatable oil. Fill 'er up at your local McDonalds or Chinese take-out.
